We are SO THANKFUL to all the volunteers who have helped to get the hoop houses and the hoop house garden boxes built and ready to "grow." We could not have completed these tasks without you. We still have few items to complete and are again appealing to you for your help. Regina Hampton will be heading the first of our planting on Friday, May 7, from 8 am - 12 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help plant 15 hoop house boxes and 4 garden boxes in the upper level. Also on Friday, May 7, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., Jim Amend will again spearhead the completion of the remaining garden boxes we need to get us through the summer. We are looking for volunteers with basic carpentry skills. That team will build 4 4x4 boxes to complete the hoop houses and 4 4x8 boxes to complete the upper level garden area.If you have personal drills, small hand tools, and/or a saw horse please bring if you want. Please mark any items you bring with your name. Saturday, May 8, starting at 9 a.m., we are in need of volunteers to help fill the newly-completed garden boxes with soil. Please bring a shovel and/or rake if you have them (label them with your name). Wheel barrows will also be appreciated for use on Saturday. For either of these days, please wear a hat, gloves, sunscreen, closed-toed shoes, and bring a bottle of water. We will have a carafe of coffee and bottled water on hand as well. We are providing a simple lunch for any who are there at lunch time. The garden and hoop houses are located on the north west side of the church building. Volunteers that can help for an hour, or two, half day or all day are welcome. Park along the street on the corner of Arizona and Phoenix. If you want to support the Garden Ministry efforts to grow fresh, healthy, local food to feed hungry people in our city, but are not able to assist with physical labor building the garden boxes or filling them with soil, please consider making a donation towards the project costs.
