Worship Arts Director Matt Greer is asking for cake. We were talking a few weeks ago, and he mentioned that some of the recent mentions of cake in the sermons (even AVOCADO cake) is causing him to crave the sweet treat. In the same conversation, we noticed that June 8 is Pentecost, the birthday of the church (Hello??? A BIRTHDAY. What goes with BIRTHDAYS??)
Therefore, Matt Greer and I want to invite you on June 8 to join us in the Great St. John's Cake-Off! Anyone in the congregation is invited to make a favorite cake and bring it to church to share. Cut it into small slices or pieces so that lots of people can sample. We will set-up tables in the courtyard along with paper plates, cake forks, and lemonade. Anyone is welcome to come and sample the variety of cakes to see which ones are our favorites. Be sure to bring a small card with your name, the name of your cake, and also mark whether the cake has nuts, dairy, or other things that might not be allergy friendly.
Everyone is welcome to come and sample the cake. And we'll be collecting donations for a good cause!
On June 8, after you worship, come and get some cake! Chat with your friends. Enjoy the morning.
We'll be collecting a donation at the event. Those proceeds will be sent to a new United Methodist Church plant in Clyde, Texas that is growing, thriving, and about to open their new building where Jesus' love will be preached to the community. We will use the donations to buy this new church a new laptop for their worship space.
BRING A CAKE - CELEBRATE THE CHURCH'S BIRTHDAY AS WE HELP BIRTH A NEW CHURCH - AND EAT CAKE. Join us this Pentecost and let us eat cake (together)!
Best wishes,
Rev. Josh Kouri
